| As the proposer of these amendments I would like to thank not only those who supported the proposals, but all of those who took the time to make comments and suggestions about how we should implement the changes. In the past there has been a feeling that every time that we change the executive officers and council members, we lose some of our memory and, to a certain extent, we start again. My hope is that these changes will lead to much better continuity and that the longer transitions and handover periods between appointment holders will result in continuous improvement in our effectiveness and impact as a European society.
