Result of vote for Council and Exec.

The overwhelming majority of members voted for the option whereby the present Council and Exec were left in post for another year. There were 66 votes for this, 7 votes that agreed with the idea but wanted to vote this year and 1 vote to retain the old system. See this page for the details.

As the proposer of these amendments I would like to thank not only those who supported the proposals, but all of those who took the time to make comments and suggestions about how we should implement the changes.
In the past there has been a feeling that every time that we change the executive officers and council members, we lose some of our memory and, to a certain extent, we start again. My hope is that these changes will lead to much better continuity and that the longer transitions and handover periods between appointment holders will result in continuous improvement in our effectiveness and impact as a European society.
